Rain lashes northern region

MUSCAT Owing to the atmospheric depression prevailing in the northern region of the Sultanate, some regions and governorates in the Sultanate received light-to-moderate rain on Friday.

According to the rainfall data of the Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources, 22mm rain was recorded in the Wilyat of Bidbid in Al Dakhiliyah region.

In the Wilayat of Muscat in Muscat governorate, 20mm rainwater was registered while 19mm rain was recorded in the Wilayat of Khasab in Musandam governorate.

The Wilayat of Mudhaibi in Al Sharqiyah region recorded 7mm of rain while 13mm rain was recorded in the Wilayat of Nakhl in Al Sharqiyah region.

A number of wadis like Wadi Sumail and Wadi Az overflowed due to the rain.

The Directorate-General of Meteorology and Air Navigation has forecast that weather in the Sultanate will gradually stabilise in the next two days.

According to the Met Department, relatively cold weather will prevail in the Sultanate. Clear to partly cloudy skies will prevail over Al Hajar mountains and adjoining areas with chances of rain.

The maximum temperature in Muscat on Saturday was 28 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature was 22 degrees Celsius with a relative humidity of 65 to 90 per cent.

Salalah recorded a maximum temperature of 28 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 20 degrees Celsius with a relative humidity of 35-60 per cent.
